Cruise phase - 8 days

Well its 2 weeks today since I started on the Dukan diet and I am amazed that just diet can help you transform the shape of your body to this extent.

Today is day 10 of my cruise phase and I am down a total of 2 kgs in 2 weeks. This is from the start of the diet.

No i did not cheat. If i have eaten cottage cheese or ricotta with a higher fat content, its simply because thats the lowest I could find in India.

2kgs in 2 weeks is not what other dukaners have achieved, I see that I am a bit slow!!! got another 12 kgs to go.

I lost 1kg in the attack phase of 3 days and in the next 10 days just 1-1.2kg more. But my plateau actually came because of my periods which just finished yesterday!!

So here it is till date

14th July - 68.4kgs
21st July - 67.4kgs
28th July - 66.4kgs (100gms here and there)

My problem is that I am getting a little sick of chicken and am not a great cook. Thankfully my husband does some yummy marinates for me which gets me through. I do hope I am not eating too little at times. At office I just get very very hungry the days I have run out of stuff and cannot carry and ordering tikkas is difficult.

12 weeks to go...fingers crossed looks like I am going to reach my true weight this time.

BTW I am a very very strong advocate of gymming, running and exercising, but have dont none of that in this 2 weeks. Not just lack of time but energy as well. Think I should take multi vitamins and I do feel less energy.

Have been going interval training cardio and walking 30 minutes a day though.

Cruise phase - Day 1 veggies - yay!!!

Not good folks. Didn't lose any weight. Thought it must be the tummy as I was feeling bloated. So the hypothesis is no papa pancho any more.

I loved the day today. Yes I did. Had eggs with onion tomato and peppers for breakfast with a pancake. A glass of chai. Lunch had all allowed veggies in tandoori homemade masala and low fat dahi. It was yum. I was feeling so so satisfied. Ate some chicken salami with fromage frais. Hahaha... Simply hang the nestle low fat curd overnight.

A perfect evening snack A large bowl of salad and lemon garlic prawns again. This time everything is allowed. Plan to have cocoa and milk later when I get hungry.

One interesting thing. I came across this lovely website called precision nutrition. Folks it's all I believe in - great online personal coaching. But it's a whopping 99 dollars a month and thats 5600 Rs. Will take it in September if I don't really stick to dr dukans ways. But really I loved precision nutrition concept.

The mix of diet plus exercise that too weights is what gets you that wow figure. Btw I did 30 mins walk each day from since I started the dukan diet.

Attack phase

Goodness folks as much as I love chicken and fish, just not too sure how am I going to handle all the meat for so long. I eat love seafood and chicken, but cooking with no oil? And only meat and dairy and oat bran which I thankfully found in Mumbai. Try the food hall in Phoenix mall, it's got at least this.

Now forget the fromage frais or the quark. It's not available. I did find some ricotta cheese which had low fat content there though. I googled on how to make quark and voila....very easy. Just put buttermilk and ferment the milk. It's our very own dahi, but try and make it with buttermilk and at a medium temp. I made mine fairly easily.

Now Delhi was a debon low fat paneer paradise, but Mumbai...goodness you just get malai paneer everywhere. Yup so I guess, buy skimmed milk and make it at home. Doesnt taste half as yummy as what I remember of debon though.

Day 1 - a sat I took an off. Ate chicken sausages from madam perizaad zorabian and splenda tea and took off shopping. Ate yucky paneer as a snack as I was hungry at 12 and the at 2 binged on tandoori pomfret with no oil at gazali...yumm. The evening passed on easily because of diet coke. Turkey ham and ricotta cheese. At night it was lemon garlic prawns and of course milk which I just put some turmeric in and boiled. I find that ok in the absence of any other mixer. Waiting for cruise am going to freak out on fat reduced cocoa.

Day 2 - Morning yay weight was down by 500gms. Now how's that for motivation. Thankfully a Sunday so not work...again had my oat bran pancake and chicken sausages. Had buttermilk and some chicken or something for lunch. Frankly do not remember. Dinner was fish and so that I love.

Day 3 - yay weight down by another 500 gms. Suspicious now...it could be water. Now this was a tough day. Work n all. Ate a nice pancake and sausages for breakfast. Had diet coke at 12 and reshmi kebab with no oil from papa pancho yummy..evening was easy turkey ham and ricotta.( guilty I think this may not really be allowed. Have googled how t make quark). Tandoori chicken for dinner. Folks it did have oil. I soaked as much in tissue as I could. Let's see. My problem now is that I think I am not limiting to 1kg of dairy products a day and the oil in the tandoori chicken was a no no.

Folks all this meat am feeling a little constipated. So took kayam churna at 2 am. The senna leaves really worked. I googled on ingredients but since it's just herbs, hopefully will not impact. Let's see tomorrow

A little inspiration. Why did I start this?

Well December 2007 I was all of 51kgs and on top of the world. Ran 8kms 3 times a week, plus a daily dose of light gym workouts. I thought I could conquer the world. Was in love with life.

Fast forward present day July 2012 one baby and a business which is doing quite ok, nothing else is. I weigh 68kgs and have thyroid which I got during pregnancy, tried 3-4 ways of losing weight. Nothing worked. The funny thing is I actually gained 25kgs in pregnancy. I was 76kg when my baby was born. In 9 months I got that down to 60kgs - jan 2011 and then the work stress happened. I reached 68 in 4 months From then till now oscillating between 68 to 66kgs without much success in any real achievement.

The funny thing I think I know about myself is that I am a all or nothing person. Have done the kaju binging at 2pm and drinking 5-6 beers in 3-4 hrs. I absolutely love wine so having just 1 glass is out of the question. So it's time for nothing I guess. Circa dec 2007 I ate, drank and exercised like crazy and was HAPPY. Let me see how can I reach that again.

I know happiness has little to do with weight, but lets just start with what's in our hands now. For the rest I guess there's god. Will share as I go along. Wish me luck folks. My true weight according to the dukan site is 54.6kgs and I will ach there by 21st oct which is just 13 weeks from when I started.
